Bosten's surgery.

Bosten has had some nasal issues for some time now.
I went to an ENT and she told us to try and keep him off dairy for 12 weeks.  Was she crazy? Bos would starve, plus it would be really hard making sure he didn't get any dairy. So after a couple of months, I decided to get a second opinion.  We went to see Dr. Randal Swensen.  He said Bosten has really larger tonsils and that must likely his adenoids were enlarged too.  This could be causing him to mouth breathe and even snore. We decided to try a nasal spray for a month and see if it helped at all.
A month went by and we saw only a little change.  Dr. Swensen did not push for getting his tonsils out, but said they were very large and maybe we should consider it.
I told him lets do it and do it soon.  We scheduled Bosten's appt for the following Monday.
He was a little scared, but I told him he would sleep better, run faster, etc.
We had to be at St. Marks at 630am. When we went in to wake up Bos, he just crawled right back up into his bed.  At this point I started to feel bad, the poor kid really had no idea what was coming.
We made it to the hospital and he was all smiles.
When they took us back into the room they asked him if he wanted to ride in the wagon and he said no.
They gave him a dose of Versed (sp?) and after a couple of minutes the kid was so loopy!
He was laughing at everything and drooling.
The anesthesiologist came to talk to us and take Bos back, Bos couldnt even walk straight.
He opted to take the wagon. He was so cute!
All doped up and ready to ride!
I wish he came out of surgery the way he went in.  Maybe I will suggest they give the kids an extra does of versed when they get done.
Bosten didn't cry one bit though, just sad and what i would say was scared.
He has recovered quite well.  We had a few issues with him taking his pain meds, but all in all he has been great. He did wake up in the middle of the night crying in pain and complaining of his ear hurting a couple of times.  It was so sad, but once we forced got the medicine down, he was a new kid.  He isn't snoring at night or breathing heavy.  His voice has changed d/t the surgery, but it is suppose to go back to normal within a couple of wks/months (and lets hope because its a little high pitched whiny tone currently).
